I have been a busy bee (despite what you think) since I haven’t been blogging lately, haha. Here is a little taste of what I’m working on right now. It’s all mostly personal work since I can’t show you what it is that I do all day long at my job job. I will post the finished products of these at a later date, but can I just say… I’m OBSESSED with hand drawn type and pattern. O-B-S-E-S-S-E-D.

But I love it. And I won’t give up!! Life has been crazy busy with work, life, shooting weddings with the hubbs, and then laziness. Since I’ve been such a neglectful blogger lately, I thought I would give us all a bit of encouragement!

Where the air feels like Christmas.

Here is the first little glimpse of our trip! San Luis Obispo was beautiful, and so much fun! It’s the cutest little town with shopping and restaurants up and down the streets. All of the stores were nestled into old buildings, even “mall” type stores like Bath and Body Works and Victoria’s Secret and even a ROSS were tucked into beautiful old structures. We didn’t have much time (as was the entire trip) but we got to catch lunch at a little Italian place. SUPER authentic food. I had the most amazing pesto gorgonzola pizza and Matt had fettucini alfredo (he really likes to branch out). It was delightful and the best part of all… drumroll… we got to EAT OUTSIDE! This doesn’t happen in Texas these days (or any days really since we don’t have seasons). Which brings me to the weather. It was amazing, 70 degrees… ahhhhhh.

And we’re off! I know you are all sick of my Cali posts but I’m just so excited! We will be flying in today, and I’m sure I’ll have all sorts of fun photos to post in a day or so!!

We have just been blessed enough to go to Paso Robles, CA to shoot the wedding of this lovely couple: Dylan & Kelly! We absolutely can’t wait!

Bad news everyone. I have fallen, and I mean HARD for this adorable little pink house. It is exactly the style of home Matt and I want someday (hopefully not TOO far off). The little arts and crafts bungalow immediately had my heart. I have never been a pink kind of girl. I’m always more teal or green or grey, and of course I would paint if I bought a pink house… but I can’t help but to be pulled in by it’s charm.

Oh, and if you could only see the inside, (you can on zillow.com)… the previous owners have done a great job fully updating it, while staying true to it’s charachter, with built in book shelves, ceiling beams, and hardwood floors. I have to spot talking about it now or I will go buy it.

A Vintage Cowtown Anniversary

This weekend, Matt and I decided to keep our FIRST anniversary simple, since we are going to Cali next weekend, by doing some of our very favorite things right here in our new town. Friday night we did our usual of posing to be 75-year-olds by going to Cotton Patch for dinner. (At least this time it was after 5:30) Then Saturday was filled with some Railhead BBQ, which was great, but no Sharon’s (our favorite BBQ place in Abilene). We went thrifting, surprise, at a few different places. This was our first time to go in fort worth and it did not dissapoint! We found a serious amount of really awesome painted curio cabinets and apothecary type pieces for our dream house we will buy (in our dreams).We actually found a pair of L.L. Bean boots for Matt and a cute little bird for my collection that I know I have seen in a retail store somewhere, but at $4.80 and 15% off, how could I pass this cute little guy up? His name is Frankie, by the way. And a little explanation for the brass deer. I found a wealth of brass deer, much smaller than the guy above, on Etsy that I have become obsessed with getting to join my Christmas decor!

Saturday night we went to see Horrible Bosses at the Movie Tavern, which I think is the most awesome concept ever. Dinner and a movie, at the same time. I realize this isn’t a new thing, but for us small town Abilene folk it’s new! Our most favorite date night activities all rolled into one!

One amazing year.

In just a few short days (or over a week) the hubbs and I will be on our way to Cali! I thought I would compile some things that are needed for this trip… (if only I could convince my wallet & Dave Ramsey).Now on to another important matter: What will I read? I have been wanting to get into a book series and just haven’t yet. So here are my choices as of right now. Harry Potter, obviously I read in 7th grade, and am a big fan of the movies, and feel like I could graduate to a new level of fandome by reading the entire series. I have heard a lot about the Hunger Games series and am curious to see what all the hype is about. I’m not sure why I threw Twilight in the mix, but I did. So here is your chance people! Sell me on YOUR favorite book series and tell me why I should read it! Ready….go!

Happy Sunday! Here is just a little preview of some details of the apartment so far. I am having a real struggle with the decorating. I’m not used to having all tan colored walls, but I’m getting the hang of it! Matt and I had an awesome weekend just doing fun things like eating, hanging with family, and thrifting! One of our all time favorite activities!

These last two shots are of my favorite thrift finds from Saturday! At 10 bucks a piece I was THRILLED to find these matching botanical drawings in these charming frames. The background color of their paper match our tan walls, but that’s ok I’ll live with it. I’m thinking they might hang in the living room above the TV, which I feel weird about, but Matt says it looks great so I’ll trust the hubbs on this one! We also picked up a 35mm Yashica that was a steal! We have an unhealthy addiction to vintage cameras…

Our apartment is wonderful, it really is. It has all sorts of little fun details (for an apartment anyway). The architectural details that I’m most excited about are the crown molding, build in shelves in Matt’s studio, an arched doorway and best of all… our very own WOOD BURNING fireplace! I have dreamed of having my very own fireplace and can’t hardly stand it that I will get to decorate it for Christmas … too soon?
